XAMPP

For our local development setup, we are going to use XAMPP, which is a simple and lightweight solution that works on Windows, Linux, and Mac.

XAMPP is an abbreviation for cross-platform, Apache, MySQL, PHP and Perl, and it allows you to build WordPress site offline, on a local web server on your computer.

XAMPP is reliable and go-to for local development setup in a single package.

It has everything we need, and once you get used to it, you can easily navigate its structure.

We will use only a small part of its features, but it is packed with apps and configuration settings. If you want to go deeper, you can set up email, web stats, and more.

If you don’t have XAMPP installed, go ahead and download it from their site.
